Op:Gimmick GIMMICK: n. 1. A device or mechanical modification used by stage magicians to enable them to perform seemingly impossible feats with ease. Plot Summary: So here's the deal... The JPV Headquarters is finally completed, and the Trium has agreed that it is time to transfer possession of the recently broken BarneySlayer[tm] to the newly created JAO. JPV mages will be researching it, and attempting to learn the ramifications of its breakage. Accompanying a hand-chosen group of JPV mages is a crack commando force from TRES, along with choice TRES higher-ups. This band is disguised as a US military convoy transporting a defense system designed by ETI. In case you couldn't guess, the BarneySlayer[tm] is the true cargo. As a result of the high magical energy emanating from the Slayer[tm], and the fact that it is attuned specially to the Purple Pedophile, he can detect it damn near anywhere. As a result, the disguised convoy only serves to fool the mundane. [name], a young Lyran of the [th] circle, seeks to impress the more powerful Lyrans, and as such, takes on the task of pirating the Jihad BarneySlayer[tm] fragment for his superiors. A nice side goal of his is also to destroy the JPV HQ, and send the young org into a shambles. To achieve this goal, [name] is in control of a large group of sponge minions. Not altogether special on their own, they have been fitted with a special device which allows even the most idiotic of humans cast simple spells. Hastily thrown together, this force only is able to cast a spell which closely resembles "Magic Missile" of AD&D fame... the spin is that this thing is Lavender, and has a weak spongifying effect. A well-protected Jihaddi shouldn't worry about the spongifying, only the physical damage. Individually, they're relatively ineffective, but in a force of a few thousand, such as this case, they are quite effective. The convoy is attacked somewhere in mid-Ohio, near the end of the trek from Colorado to Western PA, successfully hold off the main force of minions, but when reinforcements arrive, are forced back to JPV HQ. After a hard-fought defense, and a bolstering by lower-ranking JPVers, the Lyran and the JPV High Councillors duke it out. Pupp, Will, and Lorin manage to force him to retreat, and forges a hateful enemy. The survivors gather themselves, and relax... for now.
